Cookies
We use a few cookies and similar browser storage to keep you signed in, remember choices such as dark mode, and protect the site from abuse. Our advertising partner sets its own cookies, described below. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the site still works, but you may need to sign in again.
Advertising
The site is free because of ads served by Google. Google and its partners use cookies to show and measure ads and to prevent fraud and, where allowed, to personalise ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Where the law requires consent for personalised ads (for example in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland), they are shown only with your consent.
You can turn personalised ads off in Google's Ad Settings or at aboutads.info, and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
How long we keep it
Comments stay while they are published, accounts until you ask us to delete them, and notification subscriptions until you turn them off. Messages are kept only as long as needed to answer, and technical and security logs for a short time.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, to correct or delete it, or to stop using it, and you can withdraw any consent at any time. In India you may also nominate someone to act for you. Ask through the Contact page; we reply within 30 days and may ask you to confirm who you are.
Grievance officer
For a concern about how your data is handled, contact our grievance officer, Saugata Datta, through the Contact page. We acknowledge it within 48 hours and aim to resolve it within 30 days. You may also complain to the Data Protection Board of India or, in the EU, EEA and UK, to your data protection authority.
Security and children
We protect the site with encryption, access controls and backups, and we will tell you and the authorities about a breach where the law requires it. The site is meant for adults: if you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before you comment, sign in or turn on notifications.
Changes
We update this policy when the way we handle data changes. The date at the top shows the current version.
